Assalamwalaikum /hello everyone! Today's recipe is Chicken Teriyaki Subs! This dish will appeal to both kids as well as adults. A special shout out to @cookingwithzainab for sharing her Chicken Teriyaki recipe!
For the chicken teriyaki, you will need :
500 gms chicken, cubed or cut in strips
2 tbsp cornflour
Salt according to taste
1/2 tsp cornflour
For the Teriyaki sauce,
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
3 to 4 cloves of garlic
1 1/2 inch piece ginger
1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
1 tsp sesame oil
Blend all the ingredients to form a sauce.
Marinate the chicken in salt, pepper and a tbsp of cornflour. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Just before shallow frying, pour a third of the sauce and let it sit for 10 minutes. Pan fry/ shallow fry till the chicken turns golden brown. In a pan, add the chicken pieces and pour the remaining sauce along with a slurry of cornflour (1 tbsp of corn flour mixed in 1/4 cup water). Pour over the sauce and cook till the sauce thickens up. Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds.
Divide a sub. On one side, add a dip of mayonnaise and yogurt. On the other side, apply some ketchup. Add some finely sliced cabbage or lettuce, followed by some sliced tomatoes and onions. Top it with the chicken. Divide the Subs if you wish. Enjoy!
